In St. Petersburg, traffic was launched ahead of schedule at a transport interchange with access to Pulkovo Airport. The relevant information was published on the official website of the Russian government on December 24.

"In St. Petersburg, on the 681st km of the M-11 Neva expressway, traffic has started at a new transport interchange with access to Pulkovo Airport," the statement said.

It is noted that the construction was completed one year ahead of schedule. According to Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, this road is a strategic facility that will connect the M-11 Neva highway and the airport. Khusnullin stressed that the length of the road was 5.5 km.

The new interchange also includes three overpasses: two of them with a total length of 614 m are located above Pulkovskoye Highway and one with a length of 55 m above M–11 Neva, adds "Газета.Ru ".

Earlier, on December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he would discuss with the Russian government the issue of bringing the Usinsk–Naryan-Mar highway back to normal. He added that emphasis is currently being placed on the development of regional roads, and stressed that the main thing is to ensure safety.

Prior to that, on November 6, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced that more than 75.5 billion rubles would be additionally allocated for the repair and construction of road infrastructure as part of the budget amendments. The minister added that this would make it possible to bring 700 km of such roads to a standard state, as well as provide measures to finance the construction of 22 road facilities.
