During the winter holidays, the number of meetings is increasing, but the approach to choosing the venue and format of the meeting is noticeably different from the warm seasons. Natalia Krasilnikova, PR director of the Mamba dating service, told Izvestia on December 27 about the seasonal features of winter dates.

"Outdoor dating is appropriate when it matches the interests of both. At the same time, it is recommended not to delay walks and to assess in advance where you can keep warm," she said.

Among the factors that can create awkwardness at a meeting, the expert highlights cold and winter clothes, which often hide the image and restrict freedom of movement. Even details such as a bouquet of flowers can become uncomfortable in the cold, so it's best to discuss the date format in advance.

Indoor meetings remain a more versatile option in winter. According to Krasilnikova, during the cold season, couples often choose cultural formats — museums, exhibitions, cinemas, theaters, concerts and workshops. Such locations are less dependent on the weather and give more reasons to talk. Cafes and restaurants also remain a popular choice, especially as a continuation of a walk or cultural program: in a warm space it is easier for people to focus on communication.

Active formats, such as an ice rink or a roller coaster, create a different type of interaction. They have more movement and teamwork, and conversation usually develops after activity.

"Differences in preferences are more often seen as trends rather than rules. Men are more likely to choose walking, skating, skiing. At the same time, women focus on warmth, comfort and atmosphere and prefer exhibitions, theater, concerts and other formats where it is easier to communicate calmly," the specialist emphasized.

In addition, it is also important to consider the budget for first dates: a walk with a hot drink requires minimal expenses, while a cultural program and dinner at a cafe involve more serious expenses and preparation.

Krasilnikova advises dividing winter dates into two formats — active and calm. The first one is suitable for those who want to share shared experiences and dynamics, the second one is for couples focused on conversation and deeper acquaintance. The choice of format, according to her, depends not so much on the season as on the weather, interests and expectations of both participants of the meeting.

Earlier, on April 23, it was reported that modern Russians are increasingly using psychological compatibility as the main criterion for choosing a partner. Thus, 88% of women and 82% of men check the psychotype of a potential life partner before starting a serious relationship.
