- The Daily Mail talked about a possible connection between the Zodiac maniacs and the Black Dahlia
A recent investigation conducted by independent experts claims that the killers under the pseudonyms Black Dahlia and Zodiac were the same person. This was reported by the Daily Mail on December 23.
Expert Alex Baber claims that the Zodiac, which terrorized California in the 1960s, and the killer Black Dahlia, linked to the mysterious murder of Elizabeth Short in 1947, were closely linked. He provides evidence, including letters and drawings left by the perpetrator, as well as genetic data that links Margolis to the murders.
Marvin Margolis, also known as Marvin Merrill, was born in Chicago in 1925. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and after serving entered medical school. His connections to medicine, as well as personal circumstances, including his relationship with Short, led to his suspicion of murder.
The study revealed surprising parallels between the murders that Margolis could have committed and the actions of Zodiac. For example, the same weapon was used — a Japanese bayonet saber, which he brought back from the war, as well as similar methods of working with codes and ciphers. Beiber also claims that the drawings made by Margolis in the last years of his life contain key elements that may be related to both murders.
"This is indisputable. It's mathematically impossible that it wasn't him. Given all his connections, either he is the unluckiest man in history — constantly being in the wrong place at the wrong time — or he is a criminal," Beiber said in an interview with the Daily Mail.
The study attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies. Beiber has already met with California police officers and presented his evidence to them.
In addition, after Margolis' death in 1993, his youngest son handed over his father's boxes, which contained more than 200 items. Although he is skeptical about the idea that he is the son of a serial killer, some of his father's sketches are considered irrefutable evidence of involvement.
One of these clues includes an image of a discovered female body, which Margolis painted a year before his death. The woman's body also has distinctive markings that resemble the injuries inflicted by Shorts. In addition, "Elizabeth" is written under the picture, which refers to the name of the victim.
Beiber called this sketch Margolis' dying confession and the only physical evidence that connects the Zodiac with the Black Dahlia. The criminal's son, in an interview with the Daily Mail, suggested that another woman might be depicted in the picture, since at that time his father had a lover with the same name.
"They (the police. — Ed.) they are not banging on doors to solve these two cases. But once it becomes obvious to them, they can no longer deny it. We need all jurisdictions involved in the Zodiac and Black Dahlia case to first recognize Marvin Merrill as a suspect based on the information we have received, and then identify him as a criminal based on physical evidence," Beiber stressed.
On December 8, Mirror magazine reported on the disclosure of a family secret by Jack the Ripper's great-granddaughter Susan Clapp. She turned out to be the great-great-granddaughter of Charles Allen Lechmer, who is one of the suspects in this high-profile case. Clapp admitted that she regularly visits the cemetery and prays at the grave of the fourth victim of the killer, Elizabeth Stride. It was also noted that for a long time Susan did not suspect the involvement of her great-great-grandfather in a series of murders.
