The number of attacks by stray dogs on people decreased by 20 in Stavropol%
The number of attacks by stray animals on humans has significantly decreased in the Stavropol Territory. By the end of 2025, there were fewer such cases by 20%.
These data were announced by Denis Taranukha, head of the veterinary Department of the region, summing up the results of the year for trapping dogs and cats in the region.
According to him, quoted by the StavropolMedia news agency, since the beginning of the year, about 4.5 thousand stray animals have been captured in the region. At the same time, the target for this year has been increased. At the moment, it is almost completed.
The Agency has also improved the legislative framework. Thus, the regional Duma has amended the regional law that regulates the treatment of stray animals. The amendments are due to enter into force on January 1, 2026.
Earlier, Vladimir Burmatov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, said that in Russia about 100,000 animals become homeless every year, and pets are often thrown out at the end of the summer season.
