A New Year's visit to the sauna can be useful if the principles of metered heat load are followed, rather than endurance tests. Physiologist Alexander Kalyuzhin, senior lecturer at the Department of Fundamental Medical Disciplines of the State University of Education, told about this on Monday, December 22.

The doctor warned that fever, signs of acute respiratory viral infections, exacerbation of chronic diseases, unstable blood pressure are grounds for not visiting the sauna.

"Steaming mode: 2-3 sets of 5-10 minutes, start from the bottom shelf, choose a moderate temperature and humidity. Between sets, you need to rest for 10-15 minutes in a calm mode. Cooling should be gradual," Kalyuzhny advised in a conversation with Lenta.Ru emphasizing that harsh contrast procedures such as ice showers and cold water bathing are acceptable only for trained people, and if they are prone to high blood pressure and cardiovascular reactions, they should be excluded.

The physiologist added that alcohol consumption is unacceptable before, during and immediately after the bath. It is also forbidden to steam through force, stay in the steam room alone, and ignore the symptoms of distress.

"The reason to stop the procedure immediately is dizziness, nausea, darkening of the eyes, severe shortness of breath, pain or compression in the chest," the doctor emphasized.

In turn, Irina Volgina, associate professor of the Department of Therapy at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, warned that any thermal and physical activity is strictly contraindicated with high blood pressure: hot baths, baths, sports, as well as intensive homework. 360.ru .
