The second largest logistics hub for supplies to Ukraine will be opened in Romania.
In January 2026, the Romanian authorities are going to open a second-largest logistics center for the supply of weapons to Kiev. This was announced on December 20 on the official website of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, citing a statement by General Mike Keller, Deputy Commander of the NATO Security Assistance and Training Mission in Ukraine.
"Starting in January 2026, Romania will host the second major center for the coordination and transit of military equipment [for Ukraine], operating in tandem with the existing center in Rzeszow, Poland," the publication says.
According to the ministry, the creation of a new logistics hub is aimed not only at ensuring a backup flow, but also at "strengthening the logistical stability of the entire eastern flank" of NATO. The center will specialize in the transfer of artillery, air defense (air defense) and electronic warfare (EW) equipment.
Following the results of the EU summit on December 19, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the leaders of the European Union (EU) countries linked the purchase of weapons by Ukraine through a loan of € 90 billion with the purchase of weapons from the countries of the association. The participants of the union's summit agreed on a decision to provide a loan for the purchase of weapons at their own expense. It is noted that Brussels did not support the idea of using Russia's frozen assets to finance Ukraine.
