Russia and Malaysia are working on a visa-free regime for Malaysians in Russia. This was announced on December 21 by the Malaysian Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Cheong Lung-Lai.

"Negotiations are underway so that Malaysians can come to Russia under the same conditions for a thirty—day visa-free stay," the diplomat told RIA Novosti.
