Vandals have damaged at least 48 Christmas trees in Sibbesse, Germany, in Lower Saxony. This was reported on Saturday evening, December 21, by the newspaper Die Zeit, citing the DPA news agency.

"Unknown criminals have damaged 48 Christmas trees in Sibbesse near Hildesheim," the publication says.

It is specified that the attackers painted the trees used for marking objects with orange spray, and also chopped them up with a small axe. Police are currently searching for potential witnesses to the crime, which occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday— December 19th to 20th.

The Bild newspaper last Saturday, December 13, reported on the prevention of an attack on a Christmas market in the federal state of Bavaria. Three Moroccans, a native of Syria and an Egyptian were detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. It is noted that information about their plans was received by law enforcement officials from the secret service of an unnamed foreign state.
