American journalist Tucker Carlson said on December 19 that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance has many opponents in Washington who do not want him to succeed US leader Donald Trump.

"There are quite a few people in Washington, perhaps even in this room, who do not yet fully understand exactly what they want, but at the same time they know for sure that they do not want J.D. Vance (as Trump's successor. — Ed.," he said during a speech at an event of the conservative organization Turning Point USA.

On November 7, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Vance is the main Republican candidate in the next presidential election. According to the Politico newspaper, Rubio's personal comments "are a prime example" of how some Republicans are fighting for the post of successor after the departure of the current leader of the country.

On October 27, Trump announced that he had not yet thought about the possibility of a third presidential term. According to him, there are currently many worthy candidates in the United States.
