Sovremennik themed tram launched on route A in Moscow
On December 19, the birthday of Galina Volchek, one of the founders and long-time artistic director of the Sovremennik Theater, a themed tram was launched in Moscow. The new named car has entered route A and will run in the center of the capital.
The artistic director of the theater, Vladimir Mashkov, said that the tram was launched in honor of a man who devoted his whole life to the artists and the audience of the theater. According to him, the symbols of Sovremennik can be seen on the route, and passengers will hear audio comments from the artists with facts about the history of the theater and Volchek itself, the Moscow city News agency reports.
The tram will run throughout the 70th anniversary season of the theater along the legendary route "A", known to Muscovites as "Annushka". It connects the Kalitniki MDC station with the city center, passing through the Proletarskaya metro station, Paveletsky railway Station, Novokuznetsk station, Bolshoy Ustinsky Bridge and Bulvar Ring, and follows to the Chistye Prudy metro station. kp.ru .
Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Transport and Industry, noted that the tram remains one of the most favorite types of urban transport among Muscovites. He stressed that the metropolitan authorities are actively developing the tram network: in 2025, the T1 route was launched, the longest diametrical tram route in the world, rolling stock is being updated and further expansion of the network is planned. Galina Volchek was the artistic director of Sovremennik for almost half a century, from 1972 to 2019. She stood at the origins of the theater, began her career as an actress, later became a director and one of the key figures in the history of the Russian theater.
