Russians named the amount of spending on New Year's gifts

The majority of Russians surveyed (76%) plan to buy New Year's gifts this year, but many have reduced their budget for them, according to a study by the online polling platform "Kukushka", which was attended by 1.2 thousand people.

So, 38% of the respondents admitted that this year their total budget for gifts has decreased and they have to save. It increased for 33%, while it remained the same for 24%.

The majority of respondents (68%) plan to spend up to 10 thousand rubles on New Year's gifts.: 21% are going to allocate 2.5–5 thousand rubles for these purposes, and 20% — 1-2.5 thousand rubles. At the same time, only 4% of respondents are willing to spend 20 thousand rubles.

Russians plan to give the most expensive gifts to their partner or spouse (41%). Another 22% intend to spend the most on surprises for children, and 18% — for parents.

The most popular category of gifts (29%) were appliances and electronics. Gift certificates are in second place (16%). They are followed by groceries and sweets, as well as household goods (13% each).

On December 12, Yulia Malevannaya, General Director of the Autonomous Research Institute of Functional Nutrition, spoke about the preparation of the body for the New Year's feast. She recommended starting taking hepatoprotectors based on essential phospholipids, which help the liver cope with alcohol and food stress, one to two weeks before the New Year. According to the expert, phospholipids act as "building blocks" for the repair of liver cells, which experience maximum stress during the holidays.
