Soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces told about the course of Dimitrov's release

Russian military personnel of the Center group of forces are conducting operations to liberate Dimitrov in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). On December 19, they told Izvestia correspondent Emil Timashev about the progress of their work.

The officer on duty at the control center with the call sign Tolkin said that the Ukrainian soldiers tried to occupy the defense, based both in houses located on the eastern outskirts of the city and in the building of a former boarding school. He stated that at present, almost the entire southern part of the city is under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

"There is no such thing as before. Birds (this is what the military calls unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). — Ed.) There are fewer of us (Russian units. — Ed.) more. <...> Ours are working very well," said the platoon commander with the call sign Byvaly.

He also said that during the liberation events, Russian fighters captured two Ukrainian soldiers. When asked about the purpose of their stay in the area, they replied that they thought they were being sent to the landfill. The platoon commander shared that in the Ukrainian detachments, he and his colleagues do not meet officers, but forcibly mobilized sergeants and squad leaders who "do not even know where they are going." According to the Veteran, there is very little left before Dimitrov's complete release.

The shooter with the call sign Koleso added that the approach to Dimitrov was carried out in groups consisting of two or three people. According to him, the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were preparing for the arrival of Russian units — they were able to build fortifications in the residential buildings they occupied, but they were able to dislodge them from there. The enemy, according to the soldier, rejects the offer to surrender the lost positions and behaves aggressively. Despite this, as Koleso explained, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are steadily being defeated.

"There were military clashes. <...> Entrance after entrance, every entrance, every floor, every apartment, even down to the storage room (we are cleaning. — Ed.). <...> Mirnograd (the Ukrainian name of Dimitrov) also remained a little. — Ed.) it will be ours," he summed up.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported a day earlier that the military personnel of the Center group of forces continued operations to eliminate surrounded units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the residential districts of Vostochny and Zapadny Dimitrov. The ministry clarified that fighters of the Russian Armed Forces are also clearing the settlements of Rodinskoye and Svetloye.

On December 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed footage of the destruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Dimitrov. As specified, military personnel of the 5th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade named after A.V. Zakharchenko of the 51st Guards Combined Arms Army of the Center group of forces were involved in this operation.
