- The United States has imposed anti-Iranian sanctions against 29 tankers and 20 legal entities.
The US Treasury has imposed sanctions on 29 tankers and 20 companies operating them that transport Iranian oil. The relevant information was published on the agency's website on December 18.
The sanctioned tankers include, in particular, the vessels Arihant, Kurdos, Kurdos II, Kurdos III, Golden Eagle, Diana, Flora Dolce and Majesty. All of them under different flags (Panama, Palau, Marshall Islands, Barbados, Jamaica, Cook Islands) have transported hundreds of thousands or millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil, fuel oil, bitumen, naphtha or condensate since the beginning of 2025.
The sanctions also affected 17 shipping and management companies registered in the UAE, Panama, India, the Marshall Islands and other jurisdictions. At the same time, Washington is tightening pressure on Venezuelan oil shipments.
According to the US Treasury, the purpose of the sanctions is to deprive Tehran of oil revenues that are used to finance military and weapons programs.
Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that the United States is trampling on international law and imposing the "law of the jungle" in an attempt to achieve a peace that benefits them exclusively. He explained that the United States dictates its terms to other countries because "they consider themselves inviolable." He noted that such a policy allows them to achieve full freedom of action in the international arena.
