Due to the abnormal weather, a high-alert mode has been introduced in Irkutsk. Heavy snowfall and winds of up to 20 m/s are observed in the city.
In just one day in Irkutsk, precipitation fell in the second decade of December. Several poles, traffic lights and bus shelters have already been damaged. There was an emergency blackout in the Kuibyshev district. The services are promptly eliminating the consequences of the snowfall, IrkutskMedia news agency writes. Road equipment has been brought out for snow removal. On behalf of Mayor Ruslan Bolotov, the number of road workers per shift has been increased, and services have switched to round-the-clock operation.
Sprinkling was carried out on the streets of Irkutsk during the day. With a decrease in traffic flow on main roads and bridges, equipment has been removed for sweeping. In addition, special attention is paid to entrances and approaches to social institutions.
Earlier, forecasters reported that 24% of the monthly precipitation rate had fallen in Moscow since the beginning of December. The snow cover has formed, but its height does not exceed 3 cm.
