Russians' New Year's Eve spending in 2025 has increased significantly compared to last year's 2024, especially among single people and families with no children. This was announced on Thursday, December 18, by representatives of the ORO marketing research agency.

According to their information, the largest spending on New Year's Eve is observed among young people and residents of the Central region. Young people spend more on holidays than older generations — on average about 24 thousand rubles.

"The increase in expenses is especially noticeable among single households — from 9,106 to 13,669 rubles, as well as in families without children — from 12,627 to 18,118 rubles," they said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In the New Year's menu of Russians, compared with last year, there is an increase in demand for hearty and traditional dishes.: 70% and 41% of the respondents preferred meat dishes and jelly, respectively, 51% preferred to see poultry on the festive table, and 85% of respondents preferred traditional salads such as olivier, crab and herring under a fur coat.

As for drinks, champagne has become the leader — 64% of respondents plan to purchase and consume it. Juices and fruit drinks will be on the New Year's table at 49%, and strong alcohol at 33%. Young people often choose juices, fruit drinks, tea, as well as non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails, while the older generation prefers champagne, strong alcohol and coffee.

On December 9, family psychologist Yulia Yudanova called for writing a letter of thanks to the outgoing year before the onset of 2026. In this message, she suggested celebrating even the smallest of her own achievements. The woman pointed out the importance of letting go of all resentments, and also gave advice on creating a festive mood, which, she added, is created through movies, music, walks and communication with loved ones.
