In personal and romantic relationships, as in ordinary communication, the first phrase is important, Alina Koroleva, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, told Izvestia.

"Because of her, you can gain or lose trust, and this is important at the very beginning. But it is also worth remembering that from 50% to 80% of information is transmitted and read non—verbally, through "body language," the specialist explained.

The psychologist emphasized that it is important to be honest in order to gain trust — this is read as harmony (congruence) between words and non-verbal signals.

"There is an opinion that when getting to know each other, it is better to avoid problematic topics, talk about neutral stories, and avoid what is really a problem. However, it is problematic topics that make it possible to learn each other's values," the psychologist comments.

At the first meeting, Alina Koroleva advises against talking about money and intimate relationships — to discuss these topics, you need to at least get a little closer emotionally.
