Anatoly Karpov, a deputy of the State Duma (State Duma), the 12th world champion, on December 16 called the deprivation of chess player Vladimir Fedoseyev of the titles of grandmaster and Master of sports of Russia deserved.
"The punishment is well deserved," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Fedoseev received the title of Master of Sports of the Russian Federation in 2012, and two years later he became a grandmaster. Since July 2023, Fedoseev has officially represented Slovenia at international tournaments.
The day before, Fedoseev, who had previously changed his sports citizenship and started competing for Slovenia, was stripped of the titles of grandmaster and Master of Sports of Russia. It was noted that the order was signed by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev.
