The Polish authorities intend to repeal the law on special assistance to Ukrainian refugees. This was announced on December 16 by the head of the cabinet of Polish leader Karol Nawrocki, Pavel Shefernaker.

"No more indefinite extensions of special conditions for military refugees from Ukraine. The provisions that were necessary when a wave of refugees arrived in Poland should be lifted today," RMF24 radio station quoted him as saying.

It is noted that the new rules provide for a reduction in social benefits, the requirement to have a job in order to receive certain support programs, as well as the unification of the social support system.

This decision was the result of a recommendation from the European Commission (EC) and an earlier veto by Navrotsky, the publication clarifies.

On November 4, Navrotsky announced that Poland had extended the program of support for Ukrainian refugees for only one year. According to him, he signed the law on assistance to Ukrainians "for the last time."
