The actions of the European Union countries are the main threat in the world at the moment. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with the State Television and Radio Corporation of Iran on December 15.

"But I would single out as one, if not the most important threat, the actions of the European Union, or rather the elite that seized power in Brussels, which is trying to subjugate national governments, forcing them to neglect the interests of their own people," Lavrov said, his words are quoted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, it has happened more than once in history that Europe has become a source of large-scale crises. He noted that at present, European countries are once again trying to impose their own conditions.

Lavrov stressed that the EU uses the situation around Ukraine to assert itself, as well as to counteract the United States and other states that advocate a fair settlement. The minister also pointed out that Europe, in his opinion, is actually waging war with Russia, pumping the Kiev regime with weapons, finances and intelligence information.

In addition, Lavrov drew attention to the discussion of the new US national security strategy, one of the goals of which, as he noted, is Washington's desire to limit Europe's attempts to impose its liberal order on the world.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that recent contacts with the American side give reason to believe that the United States has begun to better understand Russia's position on the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, Moscow is awaiting Washington's reaction following recent contacts with the Ukrainian side.

Earlier in the day, negotiations between the United States and Ukraine ended in Berlin. It was specified that they lasted two hours. The day before, the next stage of negotiations between the American and Ukrainian delegations took place in Berlin. US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff said at the time that significant progress had been made during negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation.

On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that no one had excluded Europe from negotiations on Ukraine, they themselves had stopped contacts with the Russian Federation. According to him, European countries are dissatisfied with the current results and are now preventing the US presidential administration from reaching a peaceful settlement.
