In Russia, the memory of the fallen military officers was honored

In Russia, the memory of war correspondents who died in the line of duty was honored. The "They didn't return to the editorial office" campaign took place on December 15.

As Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin emphasized, last year alone, more than 100 reporters around the world gave their lives for the pursuit of truth — it is impossible to accept such losses. In every editorial office that has lost employees, black-and—white photographs and bouquets with an even number are placed on their desks - this is a tradition symbolizing memory and respect.

Izvestia was the first to lose Semyon Eremin, who died on April 19, 2024, on the front line while filming a report.

"When very close people leave, they can't just leave.: You're with that person in your head every second anyway. And for me, this memorial day is a day when I can talk about it with others," said Eremin's wife Victoria.

The second editor lost military commander Alexander Martemyanov, who had been working in Donetsk since 2014 and wanted the whole world to know about the crimes of the Kiev regime. He came under fire more than once, was injured and continued to work.

Martemyanov helped people in difficult situations: he took them out of dangerous areas, helped with the delivery of groceries. This part of his life has always remained behind the scenes. On the day of his death, he was delivering humanitarian aid to Gorlovka. On the way back, a Ukrainian drone hit his car.

The third editor lost Alexander Fedorchak, the youngest military commander of Izvestia. He felt involved in history and treated his work as a sacred duty.

In Simferopol, they said goodbye to Alexander Fedorchak, as colleagues and relatives remembered the Izvestia journalist.

In Russia, December 15 is the Day of Remembrance of Journalists who died in the performance of their professional duties. On this day, activists of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) honored the memory of correspondents who died in the performance of their professional duties.
