Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to submit proposals on the possibility of declaring 2027 the Year of Geography. The list of instructions from the head of state following the results of the XVII Congress of the Russian Geographical Society and the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the organization was published on the Kremlin's website on December 15.

"The Government of the Russian Federation: <...> submit proposals on the possibility of declaring 2027 the Year of Geography," the document says.
