Schoolchildren and adults are recommended to eat no more than two or three tangerines a day. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region on Monday, December 15.

According to the expert, the daily intake of tangerines is very individual and depends on age.

"For example, children under the age of three can eat two or three slices, and half a tangerine from the age of three. Preschoolers get a whole tangerine. For schoolchildren and adults — two or three tangerines a day. Tangerines increase the acidity of gastric juice, so you should not consume them on an empty stomach. The ideal time would be 1.5–2 hours after breakfast or lunch, but no later than 3 p.m., since citrus fruits can provoke intestinal upset in the evening," the Moscow City News Agency quotes Inna Pichugina, chief freelance specialist and nutritionist at the department.

In addition, tangerines are not recommended for people with allergies to citrus fruits, patients with diabetes, as well as for exacerbation of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (gastrointestinal tract).

At the same time, the ministry noted that in the off-season, tangerines make up for the lack of vitamins well. An average tangerine provides up to 30% of the daily requirement for vitamin C, as well as 6% of the recommended daily intake of fiber needed for intestinal function.

Tangerines also enhance metabolic processes in the body, strengthen the heart muscle, and contain the alkaloid synephrine, which lowers "bad" cholesterol.

On the same day, Roskachestvo said that when buying tangerines, it is important to carefully inspect their skins and assess their weight, RT reports. Experts recommended choosing elastic and evenly colored fruits without soft dents. The agency warned that fruits with damage, dark spots or mold may be spoiled, according to 360.ru .

Ripe fruits have a pronounced aroma and are easily peeled. Greenish spots or a green tail may indicate immaturity, and a wrinkled and too hard peel may indicate over—ripening, IA Regnum reports.
