Since the beginning of the year, in the Northern Administrative District of Moscow, the curators of the Traffic Management Center (TSODD) have implemented 34 projects aimed at improving comfort and safety on the roads. This was stated by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

Among the implemented ideas are the creation of 13 pedestrian crossings, the equipment of additional lanes on six road sections, the creation of two safety islands and two sections with dedicated lanes for ground transport. In addition, the speed limit has been changed on four streets, Sobyanin said in his Telegram channel.

"Waffle markings have been added at difficult intersections. For example, at the intersection of Levoberezhnaya and Belomorskaya streets," the mayor wrote. "Thanks to this, traffic accelerated by 20%."

The measures taken have made it possible to increase comfort and safety for pedestrians, reduce travel time for drivers and increase the speed of urban transport, Sobyanin added.

Earlier in December, the mayor announced that 57 local traffic improvement projects had been implemented in the Central Administrative District since the beginning of the year. In particular, six new U-turns have appeared on the Garden Ring. To organize them, the road was not expanded — the specialists re-marked the roadway and added special sections at traffic lights.

Also, at three intersections with heavy traffic — in the areas of Zamoskvorechye, Presnensky and Tverskoy — they applied "waffle" markings. It appeared at the intersection of Dubininskaya Street and Paveletskaya Square; Presnensky Val and Malaya Gruzinskaya streets, as well as at the intersection of Dolgorukovskaya Street and Armory Lane.
