The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are more actively surrendering after dropping fake dollar bills with a QR code on the corresponding Telegram bot at their position. This was reported on December 15 in the Russian law enforcement agencies.

"Sometimes, instead of leaflets, we drop fake dollars — after such drops, there is always a surge in soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who want to surrender," TASS quoted the source as saying.

It is specified that the Russian military used this method in the Zaporizhia region and in Kherson. There are also provocations when the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who are not going to surrender, just write to the Telegram bot.

The source said that Ukrainian soldiers who were forcibly mobilized and sent to the front line are most often captured.

On December 12, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage showing how a group of Ukrainian Armed Forces militants surrendered to Russian troops in Dimitrov, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). According to the ministry, the prisoners were captured by soldiers of the fifth separate Guards Motorized Rifle brigade named after A.V. Zakharchenko, which is part of the Center group of forces.
