Peskov said Putin and Erdogan discussed sensitive topics in Ashgabat
During the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Erdogan in Turkmenistan, very sensitive topics were touched upon, so it was quite difficult to keep up with the schedule. This was announced on December 14 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
"Naturally, very sensitive topics are discussed, and during such discussions it is usually very difficult to control time," he told journalist Pavel Zarubin.
As the Russian and Turkish leaders ran out of schedule, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif joined the meeting during their talks.
"At the same time, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is scheduled to have the following [meeting], which is arranged by the host country: our Turkmen colleagues, and we need to hurry there. And this situation turns out to be time pressure from all sides," Peskov said.
The meeting between Putin and Erdogan took place on December 13 in Ashgabat on the sidelines of the International Peace and Security Forum. The Turkish leader called the negotiations with the Russian leader successful and fruitful. Erdogan said that relations between Turkey and Russia have deep historical roots, a solid diplomatic foundation and mutual trust, and are not based on short-term interests.
On the same day, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on Ukraine to make a difficult choice and accept the loss of territories. He recalled Turkey's readiness to become a platform for negotiations.
