Unauthorized felling of a Christmas tree is punishable by a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles. Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the law enforcement center in Moscow and the Moscow Region, told about this on December 14.

"If the damage caused by unauthorized felling of a Christmas tree is found to be insignificant, the offender will face administrative punishment, which will entail the imposition of an administrative fine on citizens in the amount of 3 thousand to 4 thousand rubles, and on legal entities from 200 thousand to 300 thousand rubles," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

This amount can be increased to 5 thousand for an individual and up to 500 thousand for a legal entity in the case of the use of mechanisms, motor vehicles, self-propelled vehicles and other types of equipment, or for the felling of a tree in a forest park green belt.
