Putin called the Mikhailovsky Palace a masterpiece of world architecture
Russian Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 13 congratulated the staff and guests of the State Russian Museum on the opening of the exhibition "Russian Tradition", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Mikhailovsky Palace, calling the building a true masterpiece of world architecture.
"The immortal creation of the famous Karl Rossi is rightfully considered an architectural gem and decoration of the Northern Capital, a true masterpiece of world architecture," the president's telegram, published on the Kremlin's official website, says.
In his address, Putin noted that the Mikhailovsky Palace is associated with the bright pages of Russian culture and the names of outstanding figures of art, science and literature. He recalled that in 1898, the first Russian museum of fine arts, the Russian Museum of Emperor Alexander III, was opened in the building.
The President stressed that today the museum houses priceless collections and important educational events are being held. In conclusion, he thanked the staff and veterans of the museum for their efforts to preserve cultural heritage and wished the guests of the exhibition good impressions.
In early September, it was reported that the music school at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg, known as the "ten years old", would also move to the complex of buildings included in the Nikolaevsky Palace on Labor Square. In the spring of this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova to work on this issue.
