UK opened a criminal case after poisoning children with chlorine in the Yakutia basin

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements after poisoning 13 children with chlorine in the Neryungri city swimming pool in Yakutia. This was reported on December 13 in the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Sakha.

"The Investigative Department for the city of Neryungri of the SU IC of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements") after reporting the poisoning of 13 children aged 11 to 16 on the evening of December 12, 2025 after visiting swimming sections in the swimming pool of the sports and recreation complex," the department's Telegram channel reported.

It is noted that the children received chemical burns to their eyes. As part of the investigation, the technical documentation regulating the sanitary condition of the pool is being studied. The course of the investigation is controlled by the leadership of the investigative department.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Health of Yakutia reported that minors who suffered from chlorine vapor poisoning were in satisfactory condition and would be treated on an outpatient basis. In total, 11 children were taken to a medical facility, and two more sought help on their own. The poisoning of minors with chlorine vapors in Yakutia was reported a day earlier.
