The Russian military told about the liberation of Seversk
During the operation to liberate Seversk, Russian military personnel advanced towards the railway tracks, disrupting enemy logistics and destroying electronic warfare (EW) equipment. The military themselves told Izvestia about this on December 13.
"Before each assault action, we conduct reconnaissance by drones. And when the guys are already storming, two or three FPV drones on duty always fly out to support us," said a soldier with the call sign Spaniard.
He noted that there is still a civilian population in the city. They are mostly elderly people over 50 years old, but there are also representatives of the younger generation. Civilians warmly welcome Russian military personnel, bring water and food to the fighters.
"Even civilians can live in such ruins. There are no exact estimates of how many of them there are in Seversk right now. But there is no doubt that they are there. And getting them out of there is the task for the next few weeks," Izvestia correspondent Stanislav Grigoriev showed the liberated part of the city.
It is specified that the priority target of the Russian fighters during the liberation of Seversk were the take-off points of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
"We went quietly into the city. We sat and listened at first, then we started acting in small groups," said a soldier with the call sign Tis.
On December 11, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin received a detailed report on the liberation of Seversk by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The meeting was attended by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Sergei Medvedev, Commander of the Southern Group of Troops, and Denis Pirogov, Commander of the 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade.
The liberation of Seversk has great political and symbolic significance. According to expert Alexei Yaroshenko, the city's population has been waiting for liberation for many years, and now civilians are celebrating their return to Russian control.
