On the western coast of Kamchatka, the sandy spit is expected to overflow with seawater and possible flooding of the coastal zone. This was reported on December 13 in the official Telegram channel of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Kamchatka Territory.

According to rescuers, a section of the coast from the village of Oktyabrsky to Cape Levashov in the Ust-Bolsheretsky district may be flooded tomorrow night. The Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the storm warning will be in effect until 13:00 local time (04:00 Moscow time) on December 14.

The Agency strongly advised residents and drivers to refrain from traveling to the coastal area during the specified period.

Earlier, on December 10, it was reported that the chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, ordered an inspection due to the lack of reliable access to the village of Oktyabrsky in Kamchatka. The only road to the settlement runs along a sand spit, which is regularly eroded by storms, which often puts residents in transport isolation. The UK noted that the previously planned scientific research to solve the problem has not been started.
