There is currently no need to reduce the working day to six hours in Russia. This was announced on December 12 by Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.

"Every initiative must have prerequisites and some kind of expediency. Today, with the situation that we see on the labor market, let's say there is no need to shorten the working day, it seems to me that there is no need," RIA Novosti quoted Kotyakov as saying.

He also noted that within the framework of the current norms of the labor legislation of the Russian Federation, employees can negotiate with employers on a work schedule. In particular, Kotyakov mentioned such opportunities for a form of employment as hybrid employment, remote work and permanent presence in the office building.

On December 10, deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation announced their plans to submit to the State Duma a bill providing for a reduction in working hours for Russians to six hours a day. The authors of the initiative stated that the goal of the project is to establish an optimal working week of no more than 30 hours.
