Astronauts of the crew of the 73rd long-term ISS mission told about their needs
On December 11, Russian crew members of the 73rd mission of the International Space Station (ISS) spoke about what they missed most in space, answering a question from Izvestia.
"For me personally, <...> and many astronauts lack some kind of homemade food, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Sometimes supplies of fresh vegetables and fruits come to us on cargo ships, but they are still in limited quantities. You can't afford to eat what you want every day," said cosmonaut Alexei Zubritsky.
He also noted that he did not have enough baths in space, as hygiene procedures on the ISS are carried out using towels and water.
His colleague Sergey Ryzhikov added that his basic needs for food and hygiene products on the ISS are being met, and he is surprised how little a person needs to stay full and clean. However, in addition to communicating with his loved ones, he lacked spiritual experience, which cannot be replenished in space conditions.
"I missed the opportunity to be in the third heaven, <...> it can only be touched in the temple. There was no such opportunity there, and I missed it more," said the cosmonaut.
Earlier, on December 9, the Roscosmos state corporation announced that the descent vehicle of the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft with three cosmonauts landed near the city of Zhezkazgan in Kazakhstan. Cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov, Alexey Zubritsky and Jonathan Kim were on board.
