The import of cars in Primorye has become a record in two months

A record volume of imported cars shipped through the Far East in October and November occurred on the eve of an increase in the recycling fee. This was reported on December 11 on the website of the Bank of Russia.

In October, car imports through the port of Vladivostok increased by a quarter compared to September and by a third compared to October 2024, said Anton Gulevich, chief economist of the Economic Department of the Far Eastern State Bank of Russia.

A record number of foreign cars were also transported across the land border in Primorsky Krai, almost four times more than in the same period last year. The temporary storage warehouses were overcrowded. Gulevich clarified that imported cars were mainly delivered to order for personal use.

In November, import volumes exceeded the record level in October, which is why border crossings switched to an enhanced mode of operation: employees from other regions were attracted, new temporary storage warehouses were launched. In the last days of November, the customs offices of Primorsky Krai worked around the clock.

Sellers also note an increase in demand for cars imported for resale, according to the Central Bank's report. In Primorsky Krai, used car sales in October increased by 13% compared to October last year. The positive dynamics was observed for the third month in a row.

Since the beginning of the year, the supply of cars on the secondary market has increased almost 1.5 times, which has led to a decrease in car prices by 8.8%.

The lighting devices in such vehicles do not meet the safety requirements accepted in the country.

Rosaccreditation reported on November 29 that the lawsuit being considered in the Primorsky Territory Arbitration Court to revoke the license of the laboratory that illegally issued safety certificates for vehicle construction (SBCTS) did not concern the legality of importing right-hand drive vehicles into Russia. The department stressed that the court considered exclusively the legality of issuing individual SBCTS for specific cars and the legality of the actions of a certain laboratory.
