The EU has provided for the right not to apply a ban on gas imports from Russia
Any EU country will be able to temporarily waive the ban on Russian gas imports if it declares an emergency, as stated on December 10 in the draft EU regulation published on the association's website.
It is noted that the elimination of the provision on the suspension of supplies was one of the key priorities of the European Parliament (EP).
"However, as part of a general compromise, it has been preserved and can be activated by the European Commission if an EU member state declares an emergency in accordance with the Regulation on the Safety of Gas Supply," the document says.
