Olga Lyubimova told about Marc Chagall's mono-exhibition at the Pushkin Museum
On December 10, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova spoke about the monovisition "Marc Chagall. The Joy of Gravity", which opened at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. According to her, this is the first major exhibition of the artist in the museum for almost four decades.
"We all become witnesses <...> the opening of a unique, absolutely unique project, because traveling through the halls of the Pushkin Museum, sometimes you can not believe that you are in them — the architecture of this unique exhibition project is so interesting," Lyubimova said at the opening ceremony.
She stressed that the exhibition was a joint project with the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as regional and foreign institutions, including museums in Vladivostok, Pskov and Armenia. Some works from private collections will be shown to the public for the first time.
The Minister noted that with a special feeling and some trepidation, the Pushkin Museum is opening the largest exhibition dedicated to Chagall in almost forty years. She added that it is especially valuable for them that even such an outstanding museum of fine arts as the Pushkin Museum is not able to assess the scale of the artist's work alone. She also drew attention to the modern architectural and lighting design of the exhibition, which makes it possible to comfortably view even miniature works.
"You don't have to look in, move away, approach, nothing glares, because it's a jewel—like light," Lyubimova added.
According to her, the exhibition demonstrates the possibilities for creating large-scale projects not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in all regions of Russia. Lyubimova also admitted that she has been visiting the Pushkin Museum since childhood, but for the first time in 38 years she will see such a large-scale exhibition of Chagall.
The international cultural project "Days of the Hermitage", organized by the main museum of Russia with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, started in Belgrade on December 6. The central exhibition was the exhibition "Peter the Great and Serbia". Special attention is paid to Peter the Great's Serbian associates: Admiral Matija Zmajevic, diplomat Savva Vladislavich-Raguzinsky, and military commander Mikhailo Miloradovich.
