January holidays are often accompanied by overeating, dehydration and decreased body tone, which negatively affects well-being. On January 5, Tatiana Dubrovskaya, a leading endocrinologist, nutritionist, and therapist at the K+31 clinic, told Izvestia about how to recover faster after the New Year holidays.

"The first advice is to try to exclude heavy and fatty dishes, smoked meats, and sweets from the diet, which we so often indulge in during the holidays. Instead, you should focus on foods with a high fiber content: vegetables, herbs, fruits (replace sweets for tea with dried fruits, choose low-fat alternatives to familiar foods). They will support digestion and help remove excess toxins from the body," the expert said.

She also stressed the importance of water balance. Lack of fluids after feasts can even exacerbate chronic diseases. It is advisable to drink at least 1.5–2 liters of clean water per day.: this stimulates the metabolism and promotes the elimination of toxins.

In addition, Dubrovskaya added, moderate physical activity, outdoor walks, light gymnastics or yoga help to normalize metabolism and reduce stress levels. It is also important to restore the sleep regime, since its violation leads to hormonal imbalance and an increase in the caloric intake.

"Lack of sleep increases the calorie content of the diet by at least 15%. Try to go to bed and get up at the same time, avoiding overwork. Finally, be patient. Getting back in shape quickly is a real task if you approach it comprehensively and with all seriousness," the doctor concluded.

On December 5, Olga Matveeva, financial consultant of the X5 Package service, told Izvestia about how to plan a New Year's table without harm to the figure. According to her, it is better to limit yourself to three or four main dishes, one or two appetizers and dessert. The specialist called 300-350 g the average norm of ready-made food per person for a festive dinner.
