Comedian Leonid Frenchov has died.

Satirical writer Leonid Frenchov died on December 9 at the age of 87, pop artist and humorist Vladimir Vinokur said on his page on the VKontakte social network.

"We, all artists, are grateful to Leonid Mikhailovich for his creativity and boundless talent. He gave people a lot of kindness and smiles! I bow to the memory of a great man," he wrote.

Leonid Frantzov's wife told TASS that the cause of death was cancer.

"After the brain edema, his right arm and leg were taken away, and he practically lay down for a long time, he couldn't walk," she said.

Frenchman was born on August 27, 1938 in Moscow. In 1973, he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University, after which he began to engage only in literary and concert activities.

During his career, he created scripts for the TV programs "Full House", "Blue Light", "Good Night, kids!", "13 Chairs Tavern" and others, and also published in satirical magazines.
