VKKS did not extend the powers of Peter Serkov

On December 8, the Supreme Qualification Board of Judges of the Russian Federation terminated the powers of the first Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, Peter Serkov, who had held this position since 2019.

"The HCCC of the Russian Federation has terminated the powers of 7 judges and heads of courts in connection with their written resignation statements...> in particular: Serkova P. P. is a judge, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation," the VKKS website says.

In February 2024, Serkov was appointed interim head of the Supreme Court.

Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigative Committee, made such a request to the board.

On November 27, the HCCC cancelled the resignation of the former chairman of the Krasnodar Regional Court, Alexander Chernov. Chernov himself did not attend the board meeting. According to his lawyer, he is undergoing long-term rehabilitation and was unable to attend the hearing for health reasons.
