In Russia, it was possible to reduce deaths from cancer and increase the five-year survival rate of patients by an average of 9-10%. This was announced on December 8 by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko.

"Oncologists have achieved unique results today. Yes, a decrease in mortality and an increase in survival over a five-year period has occurred on average by about 9-10% in recent years," the minister said at the opening of the Russian Healthcare Week 2025 forum.

According to him, new drugs have been used in the treatment, including personalized mRNA vaccines, so far for certain types of diseases. Murashko added that the medical community continues to explore the potential of these technologies.

In September, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that technological leadership projects had already borne fruit, with Russia expanding the number of essential medicines produced in the country. In addition, he stressed that Russian medicines for the treatment of blood cancer, as well as against tumors, are at the final stage of development.
