The weather forecaster predicted changeable temperatures this week in Moscow
Changeable weather with noticeable temperature fluctuations is expected in Moscow this week. The temperature background will generally remain above the climatic norm and will correspond to the November figures, but the weather will be unstable. Anatoly Tsygankov, head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service's Crisis Management department, told Izvestia about this on December 8.
"Next Tuesday and Wednesday, an atmospheric front will pass through the region, which will bring a cooling of about two degrees. During this period, nighttime temperatures will drop to -2 degrees, and during the day they will stay near zero. Precipitation in the form of wet snow is expected," he said.
However, on Thursday and Friday, December 11 and 12, the weather forecaster noted, the temperature will rise again, reaching values of +1...+4 degrees in the afternoon. The fallen snow will melt.
By the weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14, an influx of cold air is expected from the north, from Kostroma. This will lead to a new cold snap: at night, the temperature may drop to -4...-8 degrees.
"Another period of warming is expected in the future. The week will be characterized by a series of cold snaps and thaws with periodic snowfall and melting," concluded Tsygankov.
Mikhail Leus, a specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, reported on December 6 that the first days of December without snow were observed in Moscow for the fourth time in the 21st century. The forecaster noted that in 2006 and 2008, snow fell in the capital only on December 19 and 23, respectively.
