The current US administration emphasizes that they are different from those Americans who instigated the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on December 7 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, a fragment of which he published on his Telegram channel.

"The Americans, with whom we are talking now, strongly emphasize that <...>..> [US President Donald] Trump is a different person, his ideology is different. They emphasize every minute that this [special military operation] would not have started under Trump," Ushakov said.

He also noted that the office of the President of the United States guarantees the fulfillment of obligations for a long-term settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.

Trump's special Envoy Steven Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 3 to discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. It was noted that the negotiations lasted about five hours. On December 5, Ushakov said that the tone of the meeting between Putin and Witkoff was constructive and friendly. According to the presidential aide, the head of state has already met with the special envoy six times, they know each other well and "understand each other perfectly."

Later, on December 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was ready to show flexibility to find peaceful solutions to resolve the crisis, despite its clear position. The spokesman also expressed the hope that the negotiation process of the two countries would pick up pace.
