Alexey Polyakov, an honorary citizen of Orsk, a war veteran, died at the age of 100. This was announced on December 7 by the mayor of the city, Artem Vorobyov.

"It is with deep sorrow that I inform you that Alexey Petrovich Polyakov, an Honorary citizen of the city of Orsk, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and labor, has died at the age of 100," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

When the Great Patriotic War (WWII) began, Alexey Polyakov was only 15 years old — he worked in the rear, and at 18 he voluntarily went to the front. He fought on the 1st Ukrainian and 1st Belorussian fronts, and celebrated Victory Day near Berlin. For military services, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree and the medal "For Victory over Germany."

After the war, Alexey Polyakov worked at the Orsk railway station, contributing to the development of the city and the region. For his many years of work, he was awarded state awards and a commemorative badge "Honorary Veteran of the South Ural Railway."

In 2025, the Orsk City Council of Deputies awarded him the title of honorary citizen of Orsk for his courage, bravery and feats during the Great Patriotic War.
