Scammers started sending malicious links on behalf of chat administrators
The scammers started sending out phishing links on behalf of chat administrators on social networks. This was reported by RIA Novosti on December 7.
According to the agency, the attackers report in the messages about the alleged "relocation" of the chat and provide its new link.
It is noted that clicking on the link from the message entails the automatic download of malicious software. With its help, scammers can gain remote access to the device.
Igor Bederov, director of the T.Hunter Investigation Department, warned on December 7 that on the eve of the holidays, fraudsters may send fake greetings, and a New Year's card may contain malicious files that can provide attackers with access to personal information. According to him, when opening such a file by a victim, attackers can gain access to banking applications, passwords and other personal information.
