Starting from April 1, social pensions will be increased by 6.8% in Russia. This was announced on December 7 by Alexei Govyrin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party.

"Social pensions and state security pensions will be indexed from April 1. It is assumed that the increase will amount to 6.8%," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It clarifies that social pensions are intended for two categories of citizens: people with disabilities from childhood and children with disabilities. In addition, old-age social pensions are provided to those who do not have a work record or have not reached the required number of coefficients to receive insurance payments.

According to the deputy, state pensions are awarded, for example, to veterans of the siege of Leningrad or victims of radiation accidents.

Govyrin announced on December 6 that by 2026 the average old-age pension in the Russian Federation will amount to 27 thousand rubles.

On December 5, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Budget and Taxes Kaplan Panes (LDPR) said that by the end of 2025, pensioners who have disabled dependents can receive an increase to their old-age pension, for which they will need to apply. It was clarified that for each disabled family member, but not more than three, a fixed payment allowance is due.
