Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, instructed to report on the progress of the investigation of the criminal case against Zaur Ismailov, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who desecrated a monument to veterans of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Moscow. This was reported on December 6 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"The head of the Investigative Committee, A.I. Bastrykin, instructed D.V. Belyaev, head of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Moscow, to report on the results of the investigation of the criminal case and the established circumstances," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

It is noted that the execution of the order was put under control at the central office of the department. The fighter is charged under clause b, Part 2 of Article 243.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Destruction, damage or desecration of military graves").

The day before, a criminal case was opened against the wrestler over the desecration of the monument to veterans of the Ministry of Emergency Situations after the publication of a video showing a man training at the memorial. It was clarified that Ismailov had previously posted a video in which he imitates punches and kicks at a statue of a child in Dmitry Mikhaylik Square in Moscow. After harsh criticism on social media, the post was deleted.
