The NWFP proposed to increase fines for operators for leaking personal data
On December 6, Sergei Mironov, the leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth (FDR) party and a State Duma deputy, proposed increasing the responsibility of operators for the leakage of personal data and imposing fines of at least 25 million rubles.
"In Russia, it is necessary to significantly increase the responsibility of personal data operators for their leakage and introduce revolving fines of at least 25 million rubles," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Mironov clarified that this problem is related to state security, which means that laws must comply with the current situation.
In addition, Mironov added that in September he sent a letter to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin with this proposal and recently received a response from the relevant ministry. According to him, it talked about the need to wait and understand how the current measures work.
On December 1, Sofya Lukinova, head of the legal department of VMT Consult, said that in case of a possible leak of biometric data, a citizen should block transactions as soon as possible and report the risks to law enforcement agencies. According to her, recording the request at an early stage makes it possible to prevent the misuse of data faster.
