Hungary vetoed the backup plan of the European Commission (EC), which provided for the allocation of € 90 billion to Ukraine through the issue of European bonds. This was reported by Politico newspaper on December 5.

It is clarified that this plan was developed as an alternative to the proposal for a "reparation loan" based on the confiscation of Russian assets.

"On December 5, Hungary officially ruled out the possibility of issuing Eurobonds to support Ukraine. This deprived the EU of a potential plan B in case it could not find a way to use Russia's frozen assets of €165 billion to finance Kiev," the article says.
