Russian tourists faced many hours of delays in departure from Sharm el-Sheikh airport, which led to conflicts and public protest. This information was confirmed by Elena, a passenger on the flight, in an interview with Izvestia on December 5.

In late November, due to the breakdown of an AlMasria airline plane, about 200 passengers bound for Russia were forced to spend up to 12 hours at the airport. According to the tourists, they were kept in the dark, the boarding gate was constantly postponed, and check-in lasted five hours. This led to conflicts between passengers, who eventually staged a spontaneous protest, chanting "Home!" and blocking the gates.

After the riot, people were given food and water, and two hours later the flight was sent, but the boarding passes were not marked with a delay, which deprives them of the right to compensation.

"It's all true! It was very painful for me, as I am still a disabled person of the first group. We arrived at the airport at 7 a.m. on 11/28, and took off only on 11/29 a.m. at about 7 a.m.! The flight was delayed for 24 hours! We want to file a lawsuit against this company," Elena said.

She also noted that this was done specifically with Russians, because, according to her, flights from other countries did not have "delays, queues and extortion."

Earlier, Flydubai flight FZ 992, which was scheduled to depart from St. Petersburg to Dubai, was postponed from November 20 to November 21 due to an aircraft malfunction. In this regard, 45 of the 126 passengers of the flight were accommodated in a hotel.
