The average age of used cars on sale in Russia has exceeded 12 years

In the fall of 2025, the average age of a used car offered for sale in Russia was more than 12 years, with the bulk of the offers coming from cars aged 10 to 14 years. On December 8, experts from Avto told Izvestia about this.ru Business", which examined the array of data on the platform.

The share of cars aged 10-14 years in the regions of Russia accounts for almost 27% of all offers, in Moscow — 28%, in St. Petersburg - 29%. Cars aged 15 to 19 years old occupy the second place in terms of the share of all offers both in the regions and in the capitals: 19.5–21.4%.

There are more cars with mileage older than 20 years in the regions — 16.3%, while in Moscow and St. Petersburg the share of such ads is about 13%. Thus, in total, the categories of cars aged 10 years and older account for about 65% of the entire market, analysts estimate.

Of the younger cars in the regions and in Moscow, cars between the ages of three and five are more often sold — the share of such offers is 13-14.5%. In St. Petersburg, there are fewer ads with copies under five years old - 10.8%. In the six- to nine-year-old category, there are fewer offers in the regions: a total of 16.5% compared to 22% in Moscow and 21% in St. Petersburg.

The average age of used cars in the fall of 2025 is 12 years and 3 months in the regions and in St. Petersburg. In Moscow, this figure is two months less (12 years and 1 month).

Earlier, on December 4, it was reported that 59.8 thousand used cars (older than three years) were imported to Russia in November. This is 83% more than in November 2024. In just 11 months of this year, 442.6 thousand used cars were imported to Russia (+21%). More than half of them (51.3%) were produced in 2021-2022, and 54% have a left-hand steering wheel.
