Shokhin noted the importance of developing digital trade between Russia and India

In order to introduce Indian citizens to the opportunities of the Russian market and vice versa, it is necessary to develop digital trade between the countries. Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), told Izvestia about this on December 4.

"Of course, everyone in Russia, even ordinary citizens, knows what Indian medicines and the Indian pharmaceutical industry are. Here, too, I think it is necessary to expand the already established trends," he said.

He added that in conditions when the largest pharmaceutical companies are boycotting the Russian market, Indian partners could fill this niche. In addition, he noted that India could compete with China for the use of the Northern Sea Route, so as not to invest in logistics.

"But equally, we can, although the current Russian-Indian forum is called "Sell to Russia," but we also have something to sell," Shokhin said.

According to him, if restrictions in the form of duties are lifted and countries come to the harmonization of technical standards and accreditation systems, then even in traditional areas, trade will become easier and more profitable.

He also added that it is necessary to remove barriers and increase the flow of goods from non-energy and non-resource sectors.

"And here, I think, there is a political impulse from the President of Russia [Vladimir Putin], the Prime Minister [of India Narendra] Modi, including during the president's state visit," Shokhin concluded.
